Albert Park Lake

A large shallow lake well situated for urban angling in terms of access. Fish management objective is to provide a "put-and-take" fishery with suitable introduced or native fish once water quality has been improved. Stocking in the early 1980's with two-year-old Chinook salmon and trout proved highly successful, although there was some conflict between angling and other recreational uses. The lake is scheduled to be dredged in 1992 and weed removed. Contains yabbies, redfin, roach, and abundant carp, some to 6 kg. These species will undoubtedly re-establish when the lake restoration project has been completed. Stocking with appropriate angling species will then be investigated.
