Barkers Creek Reservoir, Harcourt
Also called Harcourt Reservoir. A deep 58 ha RWC reservoir,
surrounded by grazing land, located north-east of Harcourt. Domestic
water supply, no boating or wading. Contains abundant redfin to 1. 4
kg, average 600g, brown trout to 2. 2 kg, average 1. 1 kg, goldfish
and tench to 880g. Redfin fishing best in the summer. Poor results
from stocking brown trout and decline in fish condition and water
productivity led to reduction of annual stocking rate in 1986.
Increased stocking rate from 1990 as a three year trial. Recent
angling reports indicate that fishing with bait has been most
productive.
