Barracouta Lake, Mallacoota

Also called Freshwater Lake. A shallow 242 ha lake 400 m from the beach, sand and mud bottom, surrounded by forest. Access is difficult and local knowledge is required. Contains very large sea (poddy) mullet to 2. 4 kg, longfinned eels, tupong, and Australian bass to 1. 9 kg. Seldom fished.
