Bellfield Lake, Halls Gap
Capacity: 78,500 Ml
Catchment area: 96 km2
Located on Fyans Creek south of Halls Gap. Surrounded by forested
country. Non-powered boats only permitted. Camping facilities at
Halls Gap. Forms part of the RWC Wimmera-Mallee water supply system.
Steep sided and not very productive. Stocked with trout 1966-1981, but trout produced were consistently in very poor
condition, and stocking was discontinued. Some spawning of trout
occurs in Fyans Creek upstream of the reservoir. Predominant species
redfin to 1. 5 kg, some brown trout to 700g, occasional rainbow
trout to 500g, and blackfish to 450g.
