Betka River, Mallacoota

Flows through forest and tea- tree, mud and sand bed. Accessible at various places through Crown land and from the aerodrome road which crosses the river 3 km west of Mallacoota. River has little flow and the only fishing is in the estuary section which contains long-finned and short-finned eels, bream to 1 kg, average 400g, sea mullet to 1. 4 kg, silver trevally, luderick to 800g, Australian bass to 600g, although most are much smaller, dusky flathead to 700g, probably larger fish available. Best angling from late winter to early spring.
