Dandongadale River, Dandongadale

A narrow river flowing through heavily forested country, rock and gravel bed. Small catchment, mainly Crown land, low flow and water level are experienced in summer. A relatively inaccessible stream with little angling pressure. Walking track from the bridge near the junction with the Rose River. Contains small brown trout and rainbow trout average 220g in the headwaters, with the lower reaches carrying mostly brown trout average 400g, maximum 1.4 kg, good numbers of river blackfish, also redfin, and occasional freshwater catfish. Last stocked with trout by Department in 1981. Currently being stocked with Macquarie perch produced at Snobs Creek Hatchery.
