Deep Creek, Lancefield

The longest and major tributary of the Maribyrnong River tributaries, rising east of Lancefield. Large stretches of stream flow through private land, and fishing access is limited to road crossings. Mud, sand and rock bottom. Contains eels, goldfish, tench, brown trout to 420g, average 100g, with an occasional fish to 1 kg. Last stocked with trout by Department in 1983 ("drought-recovery" release).
