Fyans Lake, Halls Gap

Surface area: 526 ha
Capacity: 21,000 Ml
Embankment length: 4. 83 km

Surrounded by light forest and grazing land with excellent access from a road around the lake. An off-stream storage forming part of the RWC Wimmera-Mallee water supply system. Large relatively shallow irrigation storage that can have large fluctuations in water level. Water temperature in summer can be high, and there is little aquatic vegetation. Caravan park/camping ground on the eastern side, boat ramp. A popular fishing water for both redfin and trout. Widely promoted as a fly fishing water. Contains predominantly redfin to 1. 8 kg, average 900g, rainbow trout average 1. 1 kg, maximum 2. 5 kg, brown trout average 1. 2 kg, maximum 2.9 kg, tench to 1.6 kg and goldfish. The south-eastern area of the lake is worth fishing even though very shallow. Stocked regularly with brown and rainbow trout.
