Forms part of the RWC Wimmera-Mallee water supply system. Surrounded by grazing land, and located immediately adjacent to the highway. Most popular of the four off-river storages of the group (others - Dock, Pine and Taylors Lakes) for water based recreation by Horsham residents, and possibly the safest boating water. Contains redfin to 1. 8 kg, a few river blackfish, tench, and increasing numbers of golden perch to 6 kg or larger, and some Murray cod to 18-20 kg. Stocked since 1982 with golden perch and since 1988 with Murray cod to restore the recreational fisheries for these species. Blue-green algal bloom closed lake to all use for several months in 1990, and future blooms may occur with the same result.
