Gunbower to Tooleybuc

Carp are most abundant, with numerous Murray cod, redfin and spiny freshwater crayfish. Also some silver perch, catfish particularly near Murrabit, goldfish and tench. Golden perch are scarce. Murray cod fishing is best during November-December particularly behind Cohuna Township and in the Benjeroop area. Fishing around Swan Hill has been poor for some time. Two size groups of cod are usually caught, 2 to 5 kg and from 9 to 25 kg, with occasional fish to 50 kg. Fishing is best during high water when smaller cod are usually caught. Best baits are bardi grubs, yabbies and worms.
