Hawthorn Lake, Mildura

Very saline muddy 195 ha lake now virtually surrounded by urban Mildura. Excellent boat ramp on southern shore and caravan park. Very popular for speedboat racing. Open to amateur netting within the provisions and entitlements of an Amateur Netting Licence but this is under review. Contains abundant common carp 5 to 7 kg, golden perch to 2 kg, bony bream 600g to 1 kg and redfin. Best baits are shrimps, worms and pieces of yabby. Boat necessary for best results. Stocking with golden perch commenced in 1991.
