Hughes Creek, Avenel

Rises in hilly rocky country, but below Avenel flows through flat open plains, sand bed. Contains some brown trout, river blackfish, Macquarie perch and trout cod. Juvenile trout cod from Snobs Creek Hatchery have been stocked by the Department. Results of this stocking in the upper reaches appear to be good. Redfin, goldfish and tench are abundant in the lower reaches near the Goulburn River, with some brown trout to 400g. Last stocked with trout by Department in 1975.
