Lauriston Reservoir, Kyneton

  • Surface area: 208 ha
  • Capacity: 20,000 MI
  • Catchment area: 223 km2

A deep RWC storage surrounded by forest and grazing land. Middle storage of three on the upper Coliban River (others - Upper Coliban Reservoir and Malmsbury Reservoir). Domestic water supply; boating and wading prohibited. Only bank fishing permitted, picnic facilities available. Large fluctuations in water level, denuded margins, and relatively few shallow areas. Popular angling water for both trout and redfin. Contains mostly redfin average 350g, and brown trout to 2.1 kg. Stocked regularly with brown trout by the Department.

Fished at northern end using bubble float rig and mudeyes for bait. Caught 4 trout around 35-40 cm. Fished from 7am up til 11 am and casting about 15m from shore.

Mainly catching carp and a couple of redfin
