Lerderderg River, Bacchus Marsh

Flows through forested country, rock and gravel bottom. Vehicle access to various points then walking necessary. Contains large numbers of brown trout to 350g, small blackfish, tench, goldfish, roach, eels and redfin around Bacchus Marsh. Blackwood is a popular place for catching small brown trout. Considerable part of flow is diverted by tunnel to Goodmans Creek and then to Merrimu Reservoir, resulting in very low summer flow downstream of the Lerderderg Gorge. Last stocked with trout by Department in 1958.
