Lindsay River
A 32 km anabranch of the Murray River near the South Australian
border providing good fishing. Flows through forest, grazing land,
and saltbush country, mud bottom. Good access from an unmade road
running parallel to the river. Most of the area between the road and
the river is private unfenced property, but anglers can cross to the
river. Water is usually discoloured and surface weed appears after
Christmas. Open to amateur netting within the provisions and
entitlements of an Amateur Netting Licence but this is under review
and likely to be revoked. Fish present are carp, some Murray cod to
45 kg, but usually much smaller, golden perch to 5 kg, silver perch,
redfm, catfish, bony bream and goldfish. Baits recommended are
yabbies, shrimps, mussels and grubs. In clear water, aeroplane
spinners and lures such as Flopy's, Flatfish and Baltic Bobbers are
used. Best fishing time is after a flush when the river is running
clear. A boat is advantageous but not essential.
