Little Murray River, Swan Hill

Also called Marraboor River. A large river, mud and limestone bed. Similar in appearance to the Murray River. Flows through grazing land. Contains Murray cod, silver perch, golden perch, carp, goldfish, catfish to 1.5 kg, river blackfish, redfin to 2.5 kg, tench, bony bream, some spiny freshwater crayfish and eels. The water level always remains high between the two weirs, the Fish Point Regulator and the Little Murray Weir. Downstream from the Little Murray Weir, towards Swan Hill, the level is usually very low during winter. At this time boating is hazardous with submerged limestone reefs. Picnic ground and boat ramp at the Little Murray Weir. Best fishing just below and up to 9 km above the weir.
