Mallee Basin
This is a low rainfall area with high summer temperatures. All
the angling waters are either anabranches of the Murray River or in
the case of lakes, filled by overflow or pumping from the Murray
River. This is one of the few areas in Victoria where native
freshwater fish species are still common. Carp are now widespread
and abundant.
