Mount Beauty Pondage, Mount Beauty

A 36 ha regulating basin for the hydro-electric scheme, located on the outskirts of the township. Irregular trout stocking by Department between 1961 and 1975 produced very little results, possibly because of the varying water level and fish escaping into the Kiewa River below the Pondage. Trout stocking resumed on a three-year trial basis in 1990. Redfin to 1.5 kg, averaging 800g, brown trout to 920g, averaging 700g.
