A shallow well shaded stream, boulder bed. Steep gradient, not heavily fished and not readily accessible in the lower reaches. Most of the trout are too small to be acceptable to anglers. Brown trout predominate, average 70g, occasional fish to 600g, also rainbow trout and river blackfish.

This is a great river if you don't plan on taking fish and you don't mind a bit of mountain goat traveling, on the steeper section there is a pool very twenty feet or so, fishing with ultra light gear and natural colored plastics got hits in most pools, caught a total of 8 fish in about 2 Km of water, this fishing is not for the light hearted as the going is rough (climbing over rocks one minute under logs the next) however the anticipation of seeing these small wild browns take the lure can't be beaten. Please bear in mind this is a fragile eco system so if your looking for a feed go else where, if your looking to out smart some real wild fish and appreciate how wonderful they are the climb is well worthwhile.
