Sambell Lake, Beechworth

An old 6 ha mining dam in the middle of the town. Contains mostly redfin to 900g, numerous river blackfish, and tench. Originally held a small population of trout cod, but the species is believed to no longer occur in this water. Stocked annually 1988-91 with trout by Department. Stocking has been discontinued due to lack of results.
