Tallangatta Creek, Tallangatta

Flows through grazing land, gravel and rock bed. Catchment is badly eroded, and stream is badly silted in its lower reaches. Contains brown trout usually to 300g, but many fish are smaller, averaging 125g. Fish to 2 kg enter from Lake Hume when water conditions are suitable during April-June; many small redfin, river blackfish and rainbow trout to 275g and goldfish in the lower reaches. Last stocked with trout by Department in 1969.

Considered to be an important nursery stream for Lake Hume trout stocks. The tributary stream Bucheen Creek has brown trout to 1. 1 kg, averaging 230g, and river blackfish averaging 80g.
