Wallpolla Creek, Wentworth
A major anabranch system of the Murray River, consisting of
hundreds of small waterways, some of which are very snaggy (main
stream only shown on map). Flows through forest, grazing land and
saltbush country, mud bottom. Open to boating but care should be
taken particularly when water level is low. Adequate fuel should be
carried on boats to cover a day's fishing, including time lost
through possible confusion of return route to Loch 9 area. A
large-scale map of the area is an advantage. Extent of the system
that can be fished varies with water conditions. Best access for
boats (to 4. 5 m) is near Loch 9, this point can be reached via a
turn off west of Cullulleraine). Wet weather can make final stage of
access difficult; check with DCE Mildura Office for road conditions.
Contains redfin to 2 kg, abundant and sometimes very large carp,
abundant golden perch, silver perch, very occasional Murray cod.
Currently open to amateur netting within the provisions and
entitlements of an Amateur Netting Licence but this is under review
and likely to be revoked.
