Yielima to Gunbower

Carp and redfin to 1 kg.are most abundant. There are some Murray cod to 15 kg, some silver perch and golden perch and good numbers of very small spiny freshwater crayfish. Best fishing in the Barmah area at times of stable water level. Fish go off the bite when level fluctuates. The river is very snaggy and a boat enables more fish to be landed. Access can be difficult, with the dirt roads becoming impassable in winter. A new fish ladder at Torrumbarry Weir should permit greater access of native fish into this section and further upstream.
